'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of his team's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from 25 yards, and the defender quickly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result capped an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for having a go from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without serious challenge. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one to drive independently and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
