The star was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his third album his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

He has decided to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the crucial part local spots played in his early career.

"I would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have permanently closed – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, major artists including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also joined in, generating over £100k on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight small stages across Britain.

The donation assisted venues that were confronting imminent closure due to issues caused by floods, blazes and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and sound issues.

Some locations received monetary aid in modernizing facilities and gear that directly benefitted artists and fans.

"The notion that revenue from shows in big venues supports the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

In the past week, the MVT announced it had saved two small stages in the South East, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in the city and the second in that location were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by a national body and supporters who buy "stakes" in the venues.
